As the seasons change, so does my perspective. Often times, we let life pass us by and never take time to understand the entire story. This year has been an emotional whirlwind. But I also made a concerted effort to take on a different perspective when life gives me lemons. I wanted to be happier and change the way I thought about life and all its hurdles. This year, I found new ways to be happy and find the positive side of every occasion. It has improved all my health and my perspective in life. I am now often aware that my struggles and problems are not the worst thing that can happen. It is true when they say no matter what you are going through, someone else is going through something else that is much worse. So I am finding a blessing in all situations. Nothing in this world is too big or small for a prayer.
Let go: This is the thing that is hard for me. I tend to hold onto things that have affected me in the past. I hold on to the negative emotions like they are my favorite teddy bear. But I have also learned to just let go and move on. Life’s too short to dwell on the negativity. Let go and live life. It helps clear your mind.
Listen to music: I have become even more obsessed with Pandora. I even got a subscription. Yes, I was one of those people who would not pay for the full service and suffer through the commercials. After seeing how music can affect my mindset, I listen to it much more now. If I find myself in a funk and I just blasting some music, then I start tapping my feet and dancing and letting everything go.
Love yourself: I was one of those girls who would stand in the mirror and nitpick everything I hated about myself. Just that alone would negate any of the progress that I made getting fit. I have to say, it was hard to fall in love with myself again, without getting too cocky. I am so glad that I have a partner that loves me and all the curves and imperfections that are in my head. That is the key. It’s all in my head and I had to learn that I am perfect the way I am. All the things I do not like about myself are fixable.
Help others and find your purpose in life: In life, we have different seasons that we go through and in each season, we should find our purpose and our reason for being. Going forward in life to find our purpose can be a much needed distraction. When finding your purpose, get out there and volunteer in your own community. You would be surprised to find out what you can do to help your community. Helping someone else may help you find your purpose or someone else who can help you.
Look into the future: I have made a vision board of where I see myself in a few years. Having goals for the future keeps you motivated and determined to accomplish your dreams. I have so much I want to do with my life. I focus on projects to keep me from negative thoughts.
Life’s too short to not have a fabulous life: Find things that make you happy. It is important to be happy and find happiness in whatever you do. Take yourself out of one way of thinking. Look at life from a different lens.
