You get a cookie! You get a cookie! Everyone reading this today gets a cookie !! This time of year is the most I ever use my oven for baking. I love to bake and could do it every week. I think if I did bake something new each week, I would gain a serious unhealthy relationship with treats. Which I already have lol. But baking during the holidays is fun and allows you to share the labor of love. Baking treats can be an inexpensive gift option. This year, we made so many cookies. It was a blast. Anything that creates memories in the kitchen is a great idea to me. Who does not love sugar cookies? This is a simple cookie recipe. Not only are they delicious but they are easy to decorate too.

Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ Cups of All purpose flour
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¾ cup of softened butter
  • 2 teaspoon of Vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon of Almond extract

Direction

  1. Whisk together all of the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder and salt.
  2. In a separate larger bowl, whip together eggs and butter until everything is smooth and combined. Add eggs, almond and vanilla extract to the bowl.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients. Mix until everything is incorporated. Sometimes the dough can be sticky. Add in a little more flour until it is no longer sticky and easy to roll.
  4. Securly wrap the dough in parchment paper and plastic wrap. Chill dough for 3 hours, if you can let it chill for a few days, the more the better.
  5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  6. Use a cookie cutter or a scoop to spread dough event across the baking sheet. Make sure you space the cookies evenly because they will spread.
  7. Bake cookies for 8 to 10 mins until the edges are browned.
  8. Place cookies on cooling sheet allow them to completely cool before decorating.
  9. Have fun make new memories.
